Web design for small businesses

Your business deserves a better website.

Clear, modern websites for shops, trades, salons and cafés across the UK, built so customers can get in touch.

Three concept projects, designed for fictional businesses.

Three businesses, three different websites.

These are concept projects for fictional businesses, made to show how I approach different sectors. They’re not client work. Each one has a write-up and a working demo you can click through.

Concept projectBakery & café

Hearth & Grain

A website for an independent high-street bakery that sells out by lunchtime and takes celebration cake orders.

Audience
Locals checking what’s on the counter, and people planning a cake for a birthday or event.
Design
Warm cream and crust brown, a characterful serif and a menu laid out to scan quickly on a phone.
Enquiries
A cake enquiry form that asks for the date, size and allergies up front, plus an open-now line worked out from the opening hours.

Concept projectTrades · Electrician

Oakfield Electrical

A website for a domestic electrician who wants fewer vague phone calls and more enquiries with the details already filled in.

Audience
Homeowners and landlords who need a rewire, new consumer unit, EV charger or safety check.
Design
High contrast, bold condensed type and plain-spoken copy that reads clearly on a phone in bright daylight.
Enquiries
A job form with one-tap job types, postcode checking and a quick “do we cover your area?” tool.

Concept projectHair salon

Studio Fern

A website for a small, calm salon that wants new clients to feel at ease before they walk through the door.

Audience
New clients comparing salons, and regulars checking prices before they book.
Design
Soft sage and blush, an elegant serif and plenty of space, so the website feels as calm as the salon.
Enquiries
A tabbed price list, a clear patch-test note for colour, and a booking request form that asks for preferred days and times.

Websites that get the basics right.

Most small businesses don’t need anything complicated. They need a website that explains what they do, looks good on a phone and makes the next step obvious.

Website design and build

A new website planned around your business: what you offer, who it’s for and how customers should get in touch. Designed and built by me, from the first sketch to going live.

  • Page structure and content planning
  • A design made for your business, not a stock template
  • Built to work properly on phones and tablets
  • An enquiry form that sends straight to your inbox

Website redesigns

If your current site looks dated, is hard to update or awkward on a phone, I’ll rework it. We keep what’s working, fix what isn’t and make the route to an enquiry clearer.

  • A review of your existing site
  • Clearer content and page structure
  • An updated, mobile-friendly design
  • Help moving across to the new site

Ongoing care (optional)

An optional monthly plan once your site is live. I check that your enquiry form and key links still work, and can make small updates to existing content so your site stays accurate.

  • Monthly enquiry-form and key-link checks
  • Small updates to existing text and images
  • One person to email when something needs changing

Every site gets clear content in plain English that says what you do, where and for whom; a mobile-first design, made for small screens and scaled up; and an obvious next step on every page, usually an enquiry.

How a project works.

  1. Discuss your business

We talk about what you do, who your customers are and what you need the website to do. No jargon and no hard sell.

  2. Agree the scope

I send a written summary of the pages, features and price, so we both know exactly what’s included.

  3. Design and build

I design and build the site, and share it with you at the agreed points so you can send your feedback.

  4. Review and launch

You check everything over, I make the final changes, and the site goes live on your domain.

Every project gets a fixed price in a written proposal, agreed before any work starts. A deposit is due when you order, and the full payment terms are set out in the order form you sign before work starts. Timings depend on the size of the project and how quickly content comes together, so we’ll agree a timeline together rather than me promising one here.

Hello, I’m Phil.

I’m the person behind PR Creative. When you work with me, you deal with me directly, from the first conversation to the day your site goes live.

I build practical websites for small businesses: sites that say clearly what you do, work well on a phone and make it easy for customers to get in touch. I’ll explain things in plain English, and I’ll tell you honestly if there’s something you don’t need.

I’m based in South Wales and work with businesses across the UK.

  • One point of contact, start to finish
  • Straight answers and a fixed price agreed before work starts
  • Websites built around your customers, not trends
